Hey all… I’ll blog later to update you guys on my eventful, not so eventful life later, but I wanted to write about a specific person and situation at the moment that needs our help!!

This past summer with Team USA I met Emily Hepker. At first I thought she was just a friend of one of our staff members. She was at our practice in Ohio snapping away pictures and just enjoying being around. I was friendly, but it wasn’t until later that night at the Indians game that I got to know her a little more. I guess I come off as intimidating, so she didn’t want to ask for a picture. As soon as I heard this I joking went up to her and said “hey I don’t bite… I hear you want a picture?” She got her picture, and later she jokingly referred to herself as “the girl with cancer.” Throughout the game we chatted and I was filled in on her situation.

Emily has been battling cancer a long time. She even stopped to get a blood transfusion on her way down to come meet our team. She played softball in high school before having to give it up due to illness, but has kept her passion for the game. If you are around Emily you would never know she’s sick, until she makes a joke about it. She was truly an amazing person to spend a day with, but I got to see her again!

When the Pride went to Akron to play the Racers, Emily came down to watch again! She stayed for a few days, and as always enjoyed great conversations, jokes and lots of smiles.

Now to the help… Team USA has pulled together to get a bunch of items, gift certificates etc donated in order to auction and help Emily afford the treatment she needs. Please please check out the auction and bid to help Emily… There’s a lot of cool things on there, and it’s going to a wonderful young lady who has fought more than ever, and now needs help to keep fighting!

    Cat im a big fan of yours and got a pitching cd from you and am a pitcher for a select softball team.i am 10 years and i mainly catch the sam houston catching coach had watched me play . after we won the championship she came and told me i have a big future and exspesially one for sam houston…..i think its great what your doing for emily and ill try my best to support her i lost my granma about a month ago from cancer. your a great role model and i look up to being just as pretty , talented and gifted as you

    Posted a comment on your facebook page. You do do wonderful things for people. I will share this story with Lauren, my 10 year-old daughter who also suffers from a dibilitating disease. She will be so proud of your efforts to help out others in need!! My prayers go out to Emily!

    Hey Cat had a games today and pitched the second and striked out 9 in 5 innings then hit a few RBI’S  but we won the first then tied the second It was funnnnnnnnnnnn:)

       Ok here I go to Alabama for Nationals for 10 days and Im gonna have fun, pitch like i never pitched in my life but the last important to me while Im gonna be there is to live the dream:) wish me luck.

    Hi cat it’s Lexi I just got back from alabama on Monday. We had a great time we came in the top 20 out of 109 teams:) we rocked I traded pins. I got 80 it was alot of fun an we had the worst weather ever. It was 113 degrees but 90 percent of humid:/ but hard work pay off. Ok write me back Cat later :)
