In seven days we will be on a plane to China! It's crazy to see how fast the months have flown by. When our tour started in mid-February, August seemed so far away. It was almost as if it would never get here. Trip after trip seemed endless, but after 60 games in 40-plus cities, it's time for the big show.
Our last two cities went by quickly. I enjoyed Salem, Virginia. My pitcher from DePaul, Lauren Frankiewicz, came to see me play. Her parents treated me to lunch, and delivered some snacks, which were devoured by the whole team!
As I stepped off the plane in Houston on Sunday, heat and humidity hit me and I remembered what it's like to be home. I can honestly say I don't mind the weather here. We get to spend the next five days at home recuperating before we head out to Olympic processing. I was in Austin today catching up with friends and old staff from my college days at Texas and it was awesome to get back and catch up.
I started the morning out with a run down by Lady Bird Lake, which 'back in the day' was called Town Lake. There's a big trail that loops around the lake and I stopped at Texas Picnic Company for breakfast like I used to do almost every morning in college. It's funny how we are such creatures of habit!
Tonight I get to head to my favorite restaurant, Trudy's, for my favorite meal - the stuffed avocado! I'll be in Houston the rest of our break to pack and work out some more with my dad. Home is the best place for me: I can clear my mind and focus on what's important!
I can't believe China is only a week away. I am so excited to finally be there and start this thing! =)
